About 10 years ago, the British couple Sara and John opened a campsite in the village of Kromidovo, between Kulata and Melnik. The campsite is named after the settlement and due to its strategic location - close to the main road between Sofia and Thessaloniki, it has become a convenient resting place for many travelers.

Camping Kromidovo, however, is not designed as just another ordinary shelter for people with tents, campers, and caravans. From day one, the place has been operating with a philosophy of minimal footprint on nature. Guests of Kromidovo are impressed by the ecological practices at the campsite. We were also impressed during our first visit to Sarah and John 7-8 years ago. Then, as now, the campsite has a composter, offers local food and wine, including those homemade by the hosts, and uses only ecological detergents for laundry and cleaning - things that almost no campsite in Bulgaria applies even today, ten years later.

Because of all this, Camping Kromidovo is the second tourist site certified by Camping.BG for the degree of application of ecological practices. Sarah and John deservedly received a certificate with 4.0 green leaves.

Eco-certification is a free service of Camping BG and aims to distinguish campsites with eco-friendly practices, as well as to encourage all others to apply them.

Together we are changing camping tourism in Bulgaria for the better!
